A champagne evening at the M&IT Awards

Always a highlight of the calendar, the annual M&IT Awards bring together more than 1200 professionals to celebrate all that’s good about the event industry and this year’s record-breaking event has been hailed as the best ever.

The spectacular Battersea Evolution was the location and in our professional opinion, as event venues go, it’s right up there with the very best – and we should know, given the number we inspect and set-up AV services in.

TechPro is building a reputation as a trusted partner for flawless delivery of live events, but we have gone about our business quietly behind the scenes so there are still many event agencies who have never heard of us.

TechPro brings the bubbles

It was one of the reasons why we decided to become event sponsors, in a bid to raise awareness of the TechPro brand. We quickly decided to show our support as a Platinum sponsor, buying the champagne for everyone on the night.

It was the perfect fit for our brand, with opulent, effervescent champagne the very antithesis of our work behind the scenes, extracting the best performance possible from expensive technical audio, video and lighting equipment; none of which should get wet or be operated after a bottle of bubbles!

Whilst the main reason for being a sponsor was to get our brand in front of the people that matter, we also enjoyed a table of 12 as part of our Platinum package. Joining the TechPro team on our table were some of our existing clients and a few prospects we hope to work with soon.

Thanks to our friends from TMB, Owl Live, Some Bright Spark, Ashfield and Colliers International, who were perfect guests and helped us through our first night as sponsorship virgins.

As with all industry specific award nights, it was also a great opportunity to mingle with the great and the good of the events world and make a few new connections. It makes a nice change to network over dinner, at the bar and on the dance floor, rather than at a business breakfast.

We were all winners

The event’s headline sponsor was the International Convention Centre Wales, which presented an exciting and action-packed programme of entertainment on St David’s Day, with all of us serenaded by the Welsh choir Only Boys Aloud and a stunning performance from Welsh singer Sian Evans.

We congratulated all the award winners and clapped enthusiastically as they strode to the stage, which we noted with professional eyes, was beautifully set and staged, with a good use of technology to present a stunning overall performance.

A special mention for First Choice Conference and Events, who walked off with the gold award for Best Intermediary Agency and Conference Care, who took gold for Best Intermediary Agency, with more than 40 employees.

It was a great event, superbly presented and clearly enjoyed by all who attended.

With our video playing throughout the night, our name and advert in the programme, branding across the venue and time spent chatting to live event agencies and industry professionals, we felt like winners ourselves!

Our brand is finally beginning to receive the recognition it deserves, and we’ll drink to that.
